4J Did this for a few reasons, mainly because they had to start somewhere, and also, that is the stage Minecraft on PC was at when the porting began. Why would you change the version if you have already began porting that version? The xbox version will catch up to the PC version eventually, but it will take awhile.

me too but I'm not entirely sure they will update it to that, from what I know, they will atleast update it to match how Minecraft on PC was at "launch" (aka the "full release" or 1.0), but that'd be cool if they made it to 1.2.3 or farther.

took the words out of my mouth..ehhh... fingers, they most likely began this when PC version was in 1.6, so they started there.

On the trailer for splitscreen one of the Mojang developers stated that if everything goes smoothly and there are no big delays by MS then it should be out sometime this month.

I don't think everyone knows how releasing a game works when there is no specific date. My theory is that every time they don't give a date to when something comes out, its on an important day that all countries have in common. Now, think about what is coming up that is so great for all countries.

They said it might release in March, but quickly withdrew that statement. This makes me think that they might have overshot by a bit, and that it will be released in April. But it's still just speculation.
