Isack Hadjar is ready to leave it all on the track as he secures the fifth position for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, aiming to earn valuable points for the Racing Bulls team. This follows a remarkable Qualifying session that positioned both of their cars within the top ten, highlighting their competitiveness in the field.
Earlier in the day, the team faced challenges during the Sprint race, where Hadjar finished just outside the points in tenth place, and his teammate Liam Lawson fell to sixteenth after incurring a five-second penalty. However, the Red Bull sister team rebounded during Qualifying, placing Hadjar just behind two McLarens and a Mercedes.
"What a ride that session was!" Hadjar exclaimed afterwards, reflecting on the intense experience. "I struggled with the car throughout, but we managed to piece it all together by the end. It wasn't the ideal lap I had envisioned, yet given the circumstances, I believe we performed admirably."
Looking ahead to the race on Sunday, the 21-year-old driver remains optimistic about his team's potential to secure a respectable points haul. This is crucial as the Racing Bulls are intensely contesting for sixth place in the closely contested Teams’ Championship standings.
"We’re in a curious grid position, right behind Oscar [Piastri] and in front of George [Russell]. They’re clearly quicker, but we’ll put everything we have into the race," Hadjar recognizes earnestly. "Our goal is to fight hard right from the start and aim for some substantial points – it’s essential for us."
Liam Lawson, who finished seventh in Qualifying, also found positivity in his performance, particularly after a disappointing Sprint.
"Today went well," Lawson stated regarding his Qualifying session. "Our pace has looked quite strong, especially in Qualifying, after a difficult race earlier in the day. It's all about analyzing the minutiae going forward; we lost a bit of time that cost us several positions. But during these tight races, I'm sure many drivers are in the same boat, so a solid starting position bodes well for tomorrow."
Both drivers share a common objective of boosting their collective points tally at Interlagos on Sunday.
"Our main target is to score points, plain and simple," the 23-year-old Lawson added with determination. "Having both cars in Q3 puts us in a favorable spot, and we’ll certainly be giving it our best shot."
But here's the burning question: with so many teams vying for supremacy, can the Racing Bulls truly achieve their goals against more favored competitors? What are your thoughts? Are they up for the challenge, or are they fighting an uphill battle? Feel free to share your insights in the comments!
